About MarklyKit

We built the tool we always needed.

MarklyKit started from a simple frustration: we kept losing the research we found online. Articles updated, tabs closed, copy-pasted notes lost their context. We wanted to annotate the web the way scholars annotate books — directly on the source, with the insight preserved alongside it.

Our Story

Research lives on the web. Your tools should too.

The web contains more useful knowledge than any library in history. But the tools most people use to capture that knowledge — bookmarks, copy-paste, screenshots — weren't built for research. They were built for saving, not understanding.

We built MarklyKit to close that gap. A Chrome extension that lets you highlight, annotate, and take notes directly on any webpage — with your insights stored locally and available whenever you return on that device.

The technical challenge was making annotations that persist. Most highlighters break when a website changes its layout. Our semantic anchoring technology keeps your highlights attached to the exact text you selected, no matter what changes on the page.

Our Mission

“Make web research as organized, permanent, and retrievable as the best physical archives.”

Researchers, students, and knowledge workers deserve tools that match the seriousness of their work. We're building that tool — one annotation at a time.

What We Stand For

Our values shape every feature.

Privacy First

Your research is yours. We never sell your data, never mine your annotations, and never share your highlights with third parties.

Built for Focus

Every feature in MarklyKit is designed to keep you on the page. No distractions, no tab-switching, no broken flow.

Reliable by Default

Semantic anchoring means your highlights stay where you put them — even when websites change. Your research doesn't break.
